Right from the get go I was super excited watching this movie. They make the Pokemon look so real! It's almost makes you feel like it could be possible for us one day.
It's interesting watching and seeing that the main character is an insurance salesman who doesn't own/have a pokemon. I'm sure every one of us would be doing everything that we could to become a Pokemon Trainer, but the reality is that even in a world with Pokemon someone still had to sell insurance.
The main characters father dies bringing him to the big city to collect his belongings. In the process of doing that he comes across his dad's Pokemon partner, Pikachu. This leads Tim (the main character) to walk the path of a detective much like his father to find out what really happened.
I very much enjoyed watching this movie at home but I feel like I would have been a little disappointed of I had paid to see it in theaters. The acting was fairly good but not great overall. Ryan Reynolds does suit the cheeky voice of Pikachu perfectly at least, giving that classic Pokemon we all know and love the attitude I would have expected.
Overall I give this movie a rating of "watch when you have spare time".
Although entertaining, it wasn't the Pokemon movie I wanted to see. Not a lot of battles or a large amount of Pokemon powers being used. Some scenes were great and others were only worth getting through to see more Pikachu shenanigans.
